Cymandye "Lady C" Russell, a native and resident of Williamsburg, has built an impressive career in the music and art world since 2007. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Norfolk State University, Cymandye has consistently made a name for herself through her passion and talent.
Cymandye has landed interviews with some of the biggest names in entertainment, and her art work was featured in Spin.com, Billboard Magazine, and more. In 2012, XXLmag.com credited her as one of the DMV's well-known industry maven and radio host. She also has a history in music journalism working for Philadelphia-based, HipHopSince1987 and RESPECT Magazine.
In 2012, Russell started her own venture, Art Riche, and in 2015 she joined the legendary recording studio, Patchwerk Recording Studios, in Atlanta as the Sr. Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager, and helped create the multimedia department in the process.
In 2022, Russell was featured as both a panelist and moderator in Pharrell Williams' Mighty Dream Forum. Recently, she and her business partner DJ Dirty Di were featured on Something In The Water Festival's official community stage, showcasing talent from Hampton Roads' youth with their event, “Something For The Youth.” Thus, Russell is the only native from Williamsburg to have participated in both of Williams' highly publicized events. Also, as the first charter member of William & Mary's Hip Hop Collection, she understands the power of archiving and documenting Virginia's music history.
Currently, Cymandye is back in her hometown, Williamsburg, Va with her business Art Riche. She is a long-time member of the Recording Academy (Grammy), and joined the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce.
Her mission is to empower and encourage the youth to use their creative abilities through music, art, and multimedia. Her business Art Riche is a platform to do just that, allowing people to get the tools and education they need to successfully pursue their dreams.
